Brief Description:  Firewall #5

Pulled out a piece of dry oak and ran it through the table saw for a 45 degree angle/bevel and cut it to about 34 inches.

Lined it up on the forward side of the firewall and on the bend line and clamped it down. Bent it slightly to 8 degrees. Seems that if it's not exactly right on 8 degrees, you'll have a little wiggle room to make sure that the longerons will fit properly.

Once the bend was complete, I brought out my DRDT2 and started dimpling. After everything was dimpled, I placed all of the brackets in place, clecoed, and taped the rivets in place as called out in DWG 60.

As I came to my last set of rivets, I came across a hole that I messed dimpling. Damn! Took apart that side angle, mounts and pulled the DRDT-2 back out and then dimpled the missed hole.

Once back together, I got out the back rivet set and my tungsten bucking bar and went at it. After the first round, I wasn't happy with 3 rivets as they were a little proud in the firewall, so I drilled them out and re-did them.

I'm about half-way done and had to call it a night. My wife came downstairs to the garage and gave me trouble as they were all trying to sleep....

I'll finish off the firewall next session.
